Facial, Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery Q & A
Why should I consider facial plastic surgery?
The specialists at West Shore ENT & Allergy use facial plastic surgery to treat a number of conditions that affect your face, nose, lips, ears, and neck. These surgeries are divided into two categories:
Reconstructive
Doctors do reconstructive surgery on patients with birth defects such as a cleft lip or palate, for conditions that result from trauma like a car accident or burns, or for health issues like skin cancer.
Cosmetic
Doctors use cosmetic surgery to alter and enhance your face’s visual appearance. This includes procedures like face-lifts, rhinoplasty (nose jobs), and reducing or eliminating wrinkles.
Each surgeon at West Shore ENT & Allergy specializes in treating specific conditions. The team understands that a successful procedure addresses cosmetic as well as functional concerns.
What types of facial plastic surgery do you offer?
The types of facial plastic surgery at West Shore ENT & Allergy include:
Rhinoplasty
Your doctor uses rhinoplasty to change the placement and shape of the bone, cartilage, and skin of your nose to give it a new shape. The procedure is used for cosmetic and reconstructive purposes.
Facial reconstruction
Your doctor surgically reconstructs imperfections caused by birth defects, prior botched surgeries, facial trauma, and diseases like skin cancer.

How long does it take to recover from facial reconstruction?
Depending on your surgery, you could be required to stay in the hospital for a day or two after your procedure so doctors can monitor your condition. Before you’re released, your doctor suggests things you can do at home to speed up your recovery. These include using special gauze and bandages to clean and dress your incision and special pain medication that won’t cause bleeding or make bruising worse.
Doctors at West Shore ENT & Allergy advise you on diet and exercise restrictions but most patients feel well enough to return to work after 1-2 weeks of recovery.
If you’re looking to improve the appearance of your face or you need facial damage repaired, call the office or use the online scheduling tool to book a consultation with one of the experts at West Shore ENT & Allergy today.
